Holy crap.

February 14, 2006

I got caught in the Valentine craziness tonight. The Dollar Store was packed, and the Valentine section at the Wal*mart was packed, too. Not finding what I was looking for, I went on to Tar*get hoping to hit the $ section for little Valentine’s day stuff for the kids. I don’t know if I’m getting more paranoid in my old age or what, but I feel increasingly manipulated by retailers. Targ*et had cleared out the Valentine’s Day stuff in the $ section. There was none. There was Easter stuff, but no Valentine’s stuff and I know they hadn’t sold out of all the pink spatulas and heart-shaped mini-baking dishes. Nobody had touched that stuff since like two months ago after it was first out. But, see, if the dollar stuff isn’t there, then you go looking for other stuff, other stuff that is more expensive than the dollar stuff. And then the Valentine’s stuff will probably show up again this weekend on clearance.

  1. They’ve got your number, Suze. ;) And the stuff that goes on clearance is candy - like that will be good NEXT year. Hah.
